Ron Lindsay, a freelance illustrator, was born in Glasgow in 1934. The son of well-known sports cartoonist Jack Lindsay, he didn't lack for encouragement in drawing and painting. Four years at Glasgow School of Art gained him his diploma and as a keen cyclist, sketching tours during the holidays round Scotland and France broadened his horizons.

After spending two years in Germany he returned to Scotland to plunge into advertising. A few years in the agencies and studios and Ron branched out on his own as an illustrator. From that point the range of subjects available to him grew to cover childrens books, illustrations for the oil industry and the construction industry, commissions from private individuals and international corporations.
